Culinary dinner prepared by famous Czech chef Jaroslav Zahálka, taking place in a historical functionalist style hall decorated with paintings from cubistic painter Emil Filla and Prague’s best jazzmen´s, who will play jazz from the beginning of last century.
A three-course dinner from the famous chef Jaroslav Zahálek
A luxurious three-course dinner served during concert breaks is a one of the key ingredients of the Jazz Dinner in Mánes. The menu prepared by the chef of the Art Restaurant Mánes, Jaroslav Zahálka, is inspired by the Prague cuisine of the 1930s. As an appetizer, we serve pea cream with butter croutons, fava beans, basil créme fraiche, watercress oil and afila sprouts. The main course is Veal fillet fried in butter, fine mashed potatoes and chard, or Zander with smoked velouté, dill, chive oil, beets, salicornia and potatoes, or Steak of roasted cauliflower, wild broccoli, cauliflower puree and hazelnut relish with pecorino. And finally, you can taste Czech classics as a dessert - Ducat buns with vanilla cream. Enjoy your meal!
We serve meals and drinks only during concert breaks. All menu types include a welcome drink.
Jazz concert
Only the best Prague jazzmen will perform for you - Doris and Sophia Lámoš (vocals), Antonín Šturma as bass player, Jiří Polydor on piano and Jan Štolba on saxophone. The program includes compositions by well-known Czech composers as well as world greatest hits. And the authentic atmosphere of the 1930s completes the piano instrument that was once played at the venue by the famous Czech jazz pianist, conductor and composer Jaroslav Ježek.
Historic hall in Mánes
Immerse yourself and go back to the 1930s while visiting this historic place full of art and jazz. The building itself is built in the functionalist architecture style and the its complex also includes a famous Manes Gallery and restaurant. The hall where the jazz dinner is performed has wonderful views over the Vltava River, Petrin Hill, Prague Castle or the neo-Renaissance Žofín Palace, located on the romantic Slovanský island, same as Mánes. The ceiling of the hall is decorated by cubist frescoes by the distinguished Czech Cubist painter Emil Filla.
